This film takes you onto the frontline of the battle to stop the controversial energy extraction process known as Fracking. Power Trip shows how students have forged alliances with grandmothers to take direct action against the Fracking industry.
In Lancashire and Sussex the trucks of Fracking company Cuadrilla are occupied, Drilling sites are blocked and supply chains are disrupted. We expose how Police spent millions of pounds trying (and largely failing) to stop the daily protests. We follow a campaigner as he tries to makes a citizens arrest on the Prime Minister for allegedly misleading the public over Fracking.
Hydraulic Fracturing (Fracking) is the process of drilling down into the earth before a high-pressure water mixture is directed at the rock to release the gas inside. Water, sand and chemicals are injected into the rock at high pressure which allows the gas to flow out to the head of the well.
The film widens the discussion to highlight the nefarious role of the media and lobby groups in creating public perception of Fracking.
Power Trip includes insights from Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell, Caroline Lucas MP, Journalist George Monbiot, Energy Research Institute director Prof Andrew Barron. The Reclaim the Power activist network and the Founder of Ecotricity Dale Vince also feature amongst the voices of local residents and councillors.
